Classroom Procedures
Entering the classroom:
When students are entering my classroom they will be expected to sit in their assigned seat and begin working on their bell work that will either be looked on the board or on the interactive whiteboard. Resource room students your bell work will be to take a work completion plan sheet and fill it out and then begin working on the first assignment on your list.
Tardy to class:
All students must be in their assigned seat working on the bell work when the bell rings. If you are not sitting in your assigned seat you will be marked as being trady.
The consequences will be as followed: the first one will be a warning, the second tardy will result in a phone call home or e-mail home, the third time you are tardy you will be sent to the BLC room for reteaching and will lose participation points for that day. If the tardiness continues a meeting will be called with your parents to help come up with a plan that will allow you to arrive to class on time and meet the expectations.
Paper/Pencil
Life Skills Math and Bridge Math students are expected to bring a pencil and a spiral notebook. They will be left in the classroom. If you do not have a pencil please ask for one before class starts.
Resource Room students will be expected to have all materials with them that they will be working on. If you have no work you need to bring reading materials with you.
Daily assignments:
I will rarely assign homework. The daily assignments will be put on the whiteboard after being assigned after the instruction has been completed.
Resource Room students your daily assignments will be work from other classes and late work.
Turning in assignments:
Life Skills Math and Bridge Math students will turn in their notebooks daily to be graded. Weekly progress sheets will be given out to students.
Resource Room students will turn their Work Completion Plan sheets completed Daily. This will be your grade.
Returning Assignments to students:
Life Skills Math and Bridge Math students will see their graded work daily in their notebooks or workbooks.
Resource room students will receive
Finding out grade status:
Students will receive grade updates weekly.
If a student has a question about their grade they are encouraged to speak with me before school, before the class period starts or after school. If you have me for a resource room teacher you may talk to me at that time as well.
What to do if you are absent:
Life Skills Math and Bridge Math students will need to speak to me before class to get their assignment that them missed. They will have two days for every one day absent to complete their work. If you miss a test, you will need to make arrangements with Mr. Hanson to take a test. This must be done within one week.
Late, missing, or incomplete assignments:
If a student is absent the get two days for every one day gone. However, if it is not completed within that time the assignments become late. I will accept up to five assignments late without penalties. These assignments can not be any later than one week late. After 5 assignments per quarter or semester the late work will only be given half points upto one week late. After one week late all assignments will become zeros.
Communication procedures with parents/families.
I will communicate with parents for behavior issues as well as positive things that take place in the classroom. This communication may be over the phone or by e-mail. Your parents my contact me before school from 7:30 until 8:00. My prep is from 9:04 until 9:54 if they would like to contact me at that time. I will be available after school until 3:30. I encourage parents to contact me at 320-629- 4124 or email me at [email protected] any time that have a question about class.
Ending Class:
Students will be asked to put their notebooks and textbook or their Work Completion Plan in the designated spots with about two minutes left in the class period. After turning in their work the student will return to their assigned seat and wait for the bell to ring. They need to remain in their seat until the bell rings.

* Reminder/Redirect the behavior
* Warning will be given
* Complete Refocus form
* Detention
* Parent Contact
* Repeated or severe disruptions to class will result in office referral

* Reminder/Redirection of behavior
* Reminder/Reteaching the positive behavior needed
* Removal to the OC room and parent will be contacted
* Detention and parent contact
Consequences for code of conduct violations:
Students that have code of conduct violations will have to follow the rules set forth in your student handbooks including dress code, unexpected absences, threats and so forth.
Attention Getter:
I will ask you to begin your work, if for any reason I need you to look up front I will say eyes on me 3,2,1.
Bathroom use:
* You are allowed 3 passes per quarter or 6 passes per semester.
* If you go over 3 or 6 you will need to make up time during lunch.
* Failure to make up time will result in a detention.
* You can earn treats for any unused passes at the end of the quarter or semester.
